Thursday…

We all heard the really bad storm last night…thunder and lightening all around. I was wide awake by 5 a.m. and really had a hard time going back to sleep. Paul finally got up with Grandpa around 8:30….I got up around nine.
Paulie made grandpa his famous “eggs with the stuff inside” (an omelet of course) and I had an English muffin with tea. My whole system seemed upset so I laid down for awhile and finally headed to the bathroom. All hell broke loose, but boy did I feel better afterwards. Around 12:30 I finally badgered Paul into going out. Someplace…anyplace…just to get out in the beautiful weather. We drove around a while, reacquainting ourselves with the Muskegon area. We decided to find the Olde World Deli and have a late lunch, early dinner at the smorgasbord. Well, with the help of the nagging voice inside the gps we found it without any problems. However, they are remodeling and making it a deli/pub kinda place. The smorgasbord is only on Friday and Saturday nites. Crap. We did split a “polish plate” of crepes, pirogue, sauerkraut with white sausage, and cabbage roll, and a brat plate with fries. We were all stuffed and brought some home. Three people can’t eat two luncheon plates.

After lunch we rolled ourselves off to WalMart for some groceries. We really hadn’t gone in at least a week and a half and we were out of basics:
Cookies candy and chips. Just kidding. We did bring back a ring of fresh polish sausage to grill one day. After cruising the aisles for an hour we go to check out. One check out open….all the self checks open. I get behind one lady in the check out line that has ONE measly ice chest in her basket. Paul insists we go to the self check. OK. Mr. Know-it-all. The kid in front of us is trying to put thru an expired gift card and 10 minutes later they come and help him do whatever he needed to do. The lady I got behind with the cooler has now since left the store and is probably pulling into her driveway and we are just now starting to scan. Ugh. Self check out is fine for a few items…not a week’s worth of groceries. *sigh*. The polish prince just seems awfully dense sometimes, like he still is in the Black forest hunting antelope.

After arriving back at the rig, all three of us nod off and nap. I am now sitting out under the awning. It is a beautiful cool evening. I am able to get a signal so hopefully I won’t have any problems posting this to the blog. I still have pix to download and then get up on line. I will wait until I am in the car and getting a strong signal to try that though.

Not much else happening. Grandpa and I will visit Larry and get our hearing aides checked tomorrow. Don’t know what else we will do, but I am hoping maybe we can go to Grand Haven or someplace close for the afternoon.

Hugs

Wednesday

Well, yesterday was a total bust, for me anyways. Paulie got a lot done, finishing setting up, cleaning the windshield of those sticky awful cicada creatures people call bugs. I was still in recovery mode from the last couple of weeks. I am so embarrassed by the amount of time I can sleep when I am not feeling well. Chronic fatigue/fibro is a real bitch.

We did go out to dinner at Russ’ which is a very nice coffee shop. We split a ruben and the slaw was excellent. I was still very much in some sort of stupor for the rest of the day. I couldn’t get access from the aircard at all, and that is really frustrating. Sometimes here at the campground I get an excellent signal and everything is fine, well, slow but fine. Then it’s ok with a good signal that then drops down to low. Then the computer locks up and I have to manually shut it down. That can’t be good for this laptop. Right now, while I am writing this, I have a low signal and cannot access anything.

We are trying to find out where Grandpa is…he called at 8 this morning (7 Texas time) and said his flight was delayed…no plane. Geez. He is supposed to fly into Atlanta then into Grand Rapids. Paul is on the phone with the airlines now…I guess it will just be a waiting game until we hear where the heck he is. It is an hour’s drive to Grand Rapids from here.

The weather is totally fantastic. Cool with the sun shining brightly. The campground is surprisingly empty. Everyone is speculating that high gas prices are keeping folks at home. Most of the campground is seasonal, i.e. permanent rigs that have been jazzed up with awnings, flowers, BBQs and decorations. The mom and kids come down early and Dad comes on the weekends is a common occurrence. Maybe it’s too costly for Mom to drive around here and Dad to make the trek every weekend.

Zack was delayed getting out of Chicago Monday night due to the big thunderboomers and rain. He finally landed sometime after midnight and drove back to Edwardsville. He had a presentation teaching assignment Tuesday evening at his class. Then I think he was working the rest of the week…he said the coffers are bare so he didn’t mind.

Not much else happening here. Until we hear from Grandpa and when he is arriving, we are kinda stuck here. We need to do laundry and shop for groceries.

I will post more when I am able.
Hugs…..dee

Monday June 18, 2007 continued…

Well, I took more than a potty break, sorry. When I got up, Paulie was hungry so I gave him some leftover burger from lunch yesterday. I passed…it didn’t appeal to me at all. By the time we finished our lunch (I will not reveal what I ate for lunch, suffice to say it wasn’t on my eating plan…), we were turning off the highway to get to the campground. It only took about 20 minutes to park and another 20 to set up. By this time I was really hurting and exhausted (so what else is new you ask?) so it was nap time for me. Paulie continued to set up the outside of the rig and put the awning out. He started putting together our new grill which will probably take him a while. I woke up about six and made us some pork tenderloin tips in au jus, (the Bob Evans precooked stuff) took some mushroom gravy and made dinner with the rest of the leftovers I had from the Cenois pork dinner. It really was a throw together dinner and it showed…it really sucked. Ah, well, I tried.

Anyways back to our long narrative. Where did I leave off? Oh yeah, dry camping at Camping World. We checked in with Dustin early and were off for the day. Zack would be coming in about 1:30 pm and we didn’t want to disrupt Jane and Carl’s morning schedules so we had some time to kill. I decided to explore IKEA. The Polish Prince was not so happy, but I want to add some racks for stuff in the kitchen, so he obliged without too much hassle. We walked the entire building and didn’t find anything to go with the measurements I had written down weeks ago. Paulie said he will re-measure when we get back to the rig. OK. So we headed out south to Orland Park. We stopped for some gas and before we knew it, were greeting Aunt Jane. Carl had taken a short trip out to the computer store.

We had a great visit and had some finger sandwiches and Aunt Jane’s fabulous apple slices. She was not happy as she felt the crust was tough because she had frozen it. I thought it was great. Paul left to get Zack (although we didn’t KNOW he left…I was in the bathroom and I think Jane was cleaning up the kitchen and he just left….hmmmmm.) Carl returned and had some lunch. We watched the Cub game for awhile and Zack and Paul came in from the airport. Aunt Jane heated up some Italian beef and we are again! We all visited for a while, and decided to view the pictures on my computer on the big screen TV. It took a while to get it set up…We looked at all kinds of pictures. Paul finally got a call back from Camping World; the rig was ready to pickup. It was about 4:30. Zack and Paulie left to get the rig and get it set up at the RV park at the Empress Casino, then drive back to Aunt Jane’s to get me and then go back to the Casino. This is just the beginning of a long sad tale of poor customer service, idiot technicians and short tempered Polish Princes. Long story short....it takes Paulie and Zack almost two hours to get from Orland Park to Bolingbrook; Kingdome satellite installed. Not getting all channels. Paul has conniption fit. Techs all gone home for the evening. To calm irate Paulie, Camping world promises tech will be at rig 8 am. Paul livid. Paul gets CW to reconnect electric so kitty doesn’t die in heat. Paulie and Zack now tired and hungry…call me at Aunt Jane’s and I get an earful of stuff I can’t make heads nor tails of. Sigh. Paul and Zack go eat, Aunt Jane and I continue gabfest. Paul and Zack arrive, sweep me out the door and we head back to Camping world for the night.

Saturday morning….tech doesn’t show up till 9. Paul livid. Tech fixes problem. We hitch up and go to breakfast. Afterwards we head to RV park. Paul and Zack go to casino. Dennise takes short nap. Paul and Zack comeback and we all shower and get ready for party. We are one and one half hours late. Have great time at party. Dennise has too much to drink. We eat, drink and are merry. We leave at 2 am.

Sunday…Dennise sleeps in all day. Boys go out to eat, go to casino. We meet Karen, Mike and Sean Kraus, John, Eugenia and Johnny Morgan at Fuddruckers. We have great dinner and great conversation. After dinner we meet with Laurie at Bakers Square. After a nice visit, she and Zack take off…she will drop him off at Kathy’s house so they can take him to the airport Monday night. Paulie and I head back to the rig at the casino. Dennise goes to bed. Paulie goes to casino.

Whew…it was getting very long winded and I needed to cut the fluff. Now you are all caught up! And so am I, thank goodness! Keeping a blog is fun but if you miss a day, you have lots of writin’ to do!

I will try very, very hard to update daily since I have aircard/cellphone access. I don’t have to drive to Barnes and Noble like I did last year, LOL!

Looking forward to tomorrow…we have no plans except to do some laundry and hit the grocery store. Gene will arrive on Wednesday I think. The pod was unloaded down in Weslaco and picked up today. Whew, at least that part of the equation worked! Now, all we need is the settlement check from the house to pay off all the stuff we have been using the plastic for!

Take care, and lots of hugs

Monday June 18, 2007

Well, this is technically our first day of our full time lifestyle. Last week was a kinda mishmash of house related stuff, doing the June Rally for Cenois and then traveling up to Chicago to visit friends and relatives. We had a great weekend. Zack flew in from St. Louis and we had a nice visit with him also. He and Paulie went to the casino a coupla times…losers, both of ‘em.

Well, for you nosey types (just kidding…I love you all!!!) here is a little recap of our last week as sticks and bricks homeowners and weekend campers.

Monday…

Geesh, a week ago and I cannot remember what the heck we did. Oh yeah, we had set up the rig at Riverside Park in Springfield. The pods (we ordered three, thinking we’d just make it with three pods….we actually used one…same price for one as for two!). I don’t think we really did anything else as I was having mini-spins much of the day, leftover from Sunday. Finally after Paulie had finished running some errands, we decided to go to Taco Bell for some dinner. We usually split the chaulpa big meal and get an extra small drink. Dinner for two for under six bucks. Not bad. When we arrived back at the Asylum, Mom and Cecil were waiting for us. We had promised our friends Hank and Elizabeth that we would sit outside for the evening, but then we had unexpected visitors, they decided to pass. Elizabeth has been have some back pain so it was probably best for her to rest up for the upcoming rally. We couldn't face the banking stuff, so we will deal with all that right now...too much stress!

Tuesday…

Before going to Zeile’s to sign the house paperwork, we stopped at the house to open the doors for the cleaning crew. Four gals loaded to the gills with vac’s, cleaning buckets etc were just arriving. We had taken the laundry with us to use the washer and dryer one last time. The ladies offered to do the second load and put the first load in the dryer. How nice that was! Off to the title company. I got sick with tummy troubles and Paulie had to stop at Hardee’s for me to use the facilities. Nervous stomach I guess.

We signed all our papers and were a bit dismayed at the final number that will be our settlement. Of course, the taxes had already been paid, but on the worksheet of expenses, they charged us for both the first and second payments. Then, there was another item, which I don’t remember but it will be refunded to us after the July 2 escrow closing. Argh. Paulie had hoped for more, but at least we are out from under the mortgage, utilities and all the other related expenses of an empty house.

I am starting a budget worksheet to track our expenses. This should be VERY interesting…we have really never done this too carefully. Now that we are on the road we do need to see what are the big drains on our budget. I am certain it won’t be fuel for the first month…we are sitting still on the beach in Muskegon so all the gas we will use will be for the Vue and sightseeing and exploring the things we missed last year.

Tuesday afternoon finds us back at Riverside awaiting our Cenois Prairielanders to arrive for our first midweek rally. Normally we have them on weekends, but we were trying something new…most of our members, actually all but two families, are retired. Campgrounds are usually less crowded during the week (and the price is lower…they charge premium prices for weekends and holidays) so we thought every now and then a midweek rally would be nice…easier to get into restraunts for dinners with a larger group, fewer campers, etc.

We wound up having 7 rigs. We found out late Tuesday afternoon that our new Prez ,Dory Talbot's, husband Al, had gone in for some heart testing and wound up having two stents put in. We had a bit of a problem with the folks at Cheddars with them telling us they don’t take reservations, (ah but they do, just for parties over ten…nobody told us that. I raked the manger over the coals and we wound up getting a 10% discount….I know BFD… )
After arriving at the shelter early Wednesday morning where Paulie and the guys had set up the coffee pot and flag and our supplies Tuesday night, we discovered that some morons had burned our American flag. We were shocked and right away contacted the campground host who called the park district police and the head of the park district. They were there for a while and the police guy collected the fragments left, just like CSI only Springpatch style not NY or Las Vegas, lol…the goofs must have used an accelerate as the flag was nylon and would not have burned easily. The fire also made two large burn holes in the shelter tent. We decided to dump the premade coffee as who knew what these goofs may have added to our coffee…rat poison or antifreeze were the first things I thought of….The Park Commissioner (I think that’s who he was)…was quite aghast that anyone would do this…and the Riverside campground has never had anything like vandalism in the last five years since the park was taken over by the Springfield Park districk. The committee of Joyce and Dick Jones and me and Paulie did the breakfast thing with omelets in bags…they were perfect and everyone enjoyed them. We had our first business meeting of 2007. There was some discussion that several folks in the group were concerned that having weekday rallies would result in the loss of member ship…so motions were discussed to make some on weekdays, some on weekends. Geesh, you can’t please everyone. Once again, the Park guy returned and presented our Pres, Dory Talbot with a new flag courtsy of the City of Springfield. It was a very nice gesture and well appreciated. After the meeting, we all headed back to our rigs to get ready for the ladies Red Hat luncheon. There were only five rehatters so we all fit in one car. We had wonderful fruit plates with chicken salad at one of my fav tearooms, Tea Thyme Tea room. Good food, good service and a beautiful setting of antiques and Victorian décor. Back at the campground, I needed to nap…Paul had fixed one part of the committee dinner, the stuffing for the pork roast, and since some of the gals were already bringing desserts, I decided to scrap the blueberry cobbler I had planned and pulled out some cranberry sauce, pork gravy and instant mashed taters, the good instant ones not the soupy ones we remember as kids.

Dinner was great, the pork was delicious (Good job Joyce and Dick) the stuffing made in the crockpot was a bit overdone but still delish (good job Paulie) and there was plenty to eat. The gnats were just awful so we packed and cleaned up quickly so we could sit near the rigs and get away from the bugs. Some of us weaklings sprayed ourselves with bug spray and we all sat outside and talked until dark.

Thursday….

Paul was up and out by 6:30 to start the coffee and go get the donuts.
We had a nice fruit bowl that everyone contributed to….and plain old fashioned mello crèmes. YUM. Hank gave a lovely talk, as he always does and we all headed back to visit for awhile. Since no one seemed to be in a hurry, although the Williams’ did have to leave early to pickup grandkids we all sat around and talked. It never ceases to amaze me how much we have to talk about!

Since we were heading out for our new “life” we had a lot of stuff to do. I think we finally pulled out of Springfield sometime around 2 or maybe three. Since I had really worked hard to clean the rig and was hurting and wiped out…I hate arriving at a new campsite and have to clean…so I hit the couch. I don’t remember how long it took to get to Camping World in Bolingbrook. But they were open…and we checked the rig in with our Customer service guy, Dustin. We were having a satellite dish installed….another long story which I won’t go into detail here…The polish prince wanted it…I didn’t. I lost. No big deal, whatever makes him happy, he’ been under so much stress lately…

They dropped an electric cord for us as we would drycamp in the parking lot. Our appointment was for 10:30 Friday. We asked them to check the coach batteries, and install the dish We also wanted them to measure for window awnings so we could order them at this Camping World and have them delivered and installed at the CW in Grand Rapids. Dustin was very helpful and we were starving so off to dinner we went.

We had a nice dinner(of course we ordered the same sandwich and brought a whole one home…just why can’t we order one and split it? We are goofy that’s why. )

When we returned to the rig parked at Camping World, we discovered that the electric line they dropped was dead. Poor Snickers was in that hot rig…she was an unhappy kitty for a while. Aparently they pulled out the plug when they closed the overhead door where the cord was located. Well, THAT was stupid, but the store is now closed so we have to run the generator all night…it is 90 degrees and 80% humidity…plus all these ugly cicadas are flying around like a hive of bees. God they are gross.

OK, I am gonna take a potty break so you’ll have to come back later and read the rest of the story.

Hugs…dee

Sunday

Sometimes when you wake up, you just know that it's not gonna be a good day.
I can usually tell just by barely cracking one eyeball and not seeing the sun. Ugh. Today, that was my first clue. Second clue was Paulies phone on the bedside table but no Paulie. Figured he's in the bathroom just outside. I stagger outta bed with the usual dizzies and smack into the wall. See the car is gone. Paulie left without his phone? Hmmmm. Great start.

He returns about 9 with breakfast from Hardees...ugh. I rather eat dirt. But since he went to the trouble, I will try to choke down the sausage thingy he so nicely brought me. It wasn't as bad as I remembered but the sausage was really spicy. What is the deal with all this spice in food? Are we turning into Latinos all of a sudden? Spice in itself is ok...too much kills the taste buds that live on my freakin' tongue. There seems to be an excess of spice everywhere, even the muffalatta sandwich I had yesterday, the olive spread was too spicey. I know what you are thinking..."...what a whimp...!" Go ahead, think it. See if I care.

After our repast of junk food breakfast, Paulie started to put up the shelves we had purchased yesterday. I love Paulie, truly I do, with all my heart. He is my true love, my soulmate. However many times I repeat this in my head it never seems to dispel the pissed off feeling I get when he attempts to do a simple easy and quick little home improvement project. I'm sorry, I can't help it, it just makes me crazy... a 'two minute drill hole, put in screw, attach shelf to wall' project takes him at least TWO hours. I get so stressed for him, I get dizzy I just have-ta barf. I am NOT kidding. Simple projects do not exisit for this poor man. And stupid me, I insist on buying things that need to be attached, put together or somehow put on a wall or some damm thing. When will I ever learn NOT to ask him to do something?

Well, the day just went downhill. The threat of rain was in the air all day which is such a joy for me. I did spend much of the day in bed. Zack stopped by before he went back to Edwardsville. This two week intensive class is kicking his butt. Like he knew it wouldn't? Kinda stupid for a smart kid I reckon.

We are just sitting in the Asylum trying to find something to watch until the last Soprano's episode airs at 8 p.m. The first Shrek is about all that is available. Crap. Watching a green ogre is not all that exciting.

Well, we have lots of banking stuff to do tomorrow. We will be closing one checking account and consolidating another to just one bank. I have my ssdi dircet deposited as does Paul his pension etc. We also have some withdrawals from the one we'll be closing so we have to take care of that. Then we need to hit the grocery store to buy the stuff for the omelets in a bag breakfast Wednesday and the stuffing and gravy I need to make for the pot luck on Wednesday evening. This will be the last time we host a rally for a while. We aren't going fancy, just plain and simple. Then its off to Chicago for a short family thing for Sami's graduation and then we head to summer paradise on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Will be able to post more here now that I can get on the stupid blog. There have to be more exciting adventures just around the next corner!

hugs

Saturday....

Finally heard from the Google folks. Apparently, the blog is now under PAULIE'S Account info. Makes no sense to me whatsoever. The best thing is now I can log on and POST! Geesh. Computers and cell phones...what did we ever do without 'em. I know my blood pressure will never be the same.

Paul and I have pretty much settled into the rig. We have found places for everything except the printer/scanner. The big honker just sits on the island. I am thinking of getting a folding wood TV tray table for it. I did purchase a couple of shelves...2 of them were too large. Back to Menards for a refund. The one shelf when Paulie went to put it up had a slight problem...the anchors and screws are like 2" long...if we put it up, the screw will come out the outside of the rig. Not good. So, we're gonna have to think this one thru....

We went to the farmer's market today. There was a line about 50 folks long waiting for fresh strawberries. OMG...they are wonderful. No sugar needed on these berries. I also saw a couple of new booths...one gal who got nine of my dollars was selling fresh creme' fraiche (sour creme) and fresh cream cheese and fruit dip. OMG. There were lots of people. This is a good time at the market...lots of salad stuff...different types of greens, beets, radishes, onions and garlics. Amazing stuff. I also got some rhubarb to make a pie (which I do NOT need to eat, btw...).

We met Zack and a couple of his friends for lunch (at 3 p.m.) at his fav place...Darcy's pub. I can take it or leave it. Expensive and crowded, not my kinda place. But it was a fun lunch.

This evening we visited with the couple in the campsite across from us...they are from California and are here to do some geneology research on ancestors from the area and to see the Lincoln sites. Very nice folks. They are heading out tomorrow for Arcola.

Tomorrow I will be attending my last Springfield Knitting Guild meeting. I sort of wish I hadn't promised, but we'll see how things go weather wise and how I feel. I finally posted on the Springfield wls board that we were leaving. Gee, gave everyone a five day warning! Nice friend I am, lol!

Well, I have some photos to post of the interior of the rig and the changes we've made and I will try to do them in the next day or so...Since the aircard is a slow as you know what...I don't know if I will be able to do them easily. I shall try. Maybe I will go to a free wifi place and upload them from there.

Homeless and happy hugs coming your way...

June 5th...a day I shall long remember...we finally left the driveway at 2 Walberta. It's about time I guess. Was really tired of looking at the garage door and the neighbor's trash cans. So, I guess this is our first day of official "homelessness". Gypsy lifestyle. Freedom. We are parked at Riverside Park. We almost didn't get a full hookup...there must be some workers here that have kinda taken over the few full hookups available here...most spots are water and electric only. I noticed also that they park their trucks in open spots between their rigs so there is more room for their stuff. The campground hosts have their hands full I guess. We are actually in a spot that someone I guess switched their spot tag for and left two lawn chairs. They are only paid for one night, so the campground host let us take this spot...we will be here ten days and need the sewer hookup. Hope there are no problems.

The PODS arrive tomorrow and we are hoping to finish packing all in one day. Prolly a pipe dream but it would be nice! To finally end this lonnnnnggggg, drawn out divestiture!

So, we are once again "on the road" as fulltimers once more. Of course, since we started in 2006 we have the 2006 class t shirts but still had the house to get rid of....no biggie I guess.

Paul has goofed around with the satellite dish for about two hours and still can't get the sucker to work. Too many trees I think. Oh well, we didn't come to the campground to watch TV all the time. I am looking forward to the quiet. Sitting in the driveway and not in the house that sits back on the lot, you really hear a lot of Rt 29 traffic, especially the heavy trucks, you know the ones bringing in the breakfast buddies we all know and love! (hogs, piggies, whatever...breakfast buddies...bacon, sausage etc.) Plus I will NOT miss those two gargantuan loudmouths from next door or the revving up of grandma's Harley.

Well, not much else to report. It is nice and cool this evening, so we will sleep well I think.

Snickers is jumping from window to window taking in all the sites...dogs, squirrels, birds...her little mind must be plotting out how to escape and have some fun I guess.

Later....

Thursday, May 31, 2007

Ok, ok...I have been shamed by girlfriend #1 that I haven't posted for a week. Well, its been a very busy week yanno! The master bed and bath are now done. Paulie is at this very moment taking off my foam pad and heated mattress pad. We are donating these to our favorite charity...the Zack Ziaja Furnish My Apartment for Me Fund. We have about three grand donated already, whats a couple of hundred more?

We didn't do very well at the auction....my stuff went for a buck an item. The highest bid item was the freaking moneybox with the key I used for past garage sales, 6 bucks and the dancing NFL St Louis Ram went for 5. Jeez, no accounting for people's taste....!

The POD cubes from ABF are arriving on June 6th and we have til the 11th to get 'er done. Shouldn't be a problem. We depart from our beloved camping spot with the wonderful view of the garage door in the driveway. A tree to look at would be nice...the garbage can also gets old.

For those of you who I haven't spoken to in a while, Paul's dad called the other morning and announced he was in the hospital. He felt numbness in his leg and it was dragging it behind him so he had to use a cane to get around. Called the doc and she ordered him to the E room. He drove himself of course, probably after he walked the dog, did his bathroom thing and had breakfast. Apparently, he has suffered a mini-stroke. The trip to the ER and the meds they administered immediately prevented a potentially serious major stroke. Wow, lucky little guy. He spend two nights in the hospital getting tests and then he was released. When Paul called in the early evening last night, Grandpa said to hurry it up, he was going to the oyster bar with the "girls"....his golfing buddies.
I guess he's feeling ok!

The rain is here and will stick around for the rest of the weekend...it won't get outta town til like Tuesday. Crap. Means I will be such a sweet soul to live with and be around. Yeah right. Poor Paul. How is it possible for a person to sleep for 18 hours a day? I think I am turning feline...they sleep 23 hours a day. This combo of fibro-chronic fatigue-bilateral Meniere's is a real doozie...I am a medical mystery. Think I should donate my old geezer body to science when I die. The only hesitation is that Paul if he outlives me, will get paid for it. That would piss me off. Especially if they pay by the pound....

Thursday

Well, so much for spending the holiday weekend at Lake Sanchris...they are overflowing. People put small tents on sites to hold them...after paying of course. Hmmm, I suppose that's one way of reserving a spot over the holiday...paying for a full week for three or four days of camping. Not me. I am too cheap. Besides, it is supposed to rain all weekend so I would rather spend it in the driveway with my satellite TV and close to the Showplace 8 (so I can go see Johnny Depp) and near the grocery store in case I get a yearnin' for something. We would not be able to get satellite in all the trees, and I am not into watching raindrops. *sigh*. I did want to get away.

Well, we got rid of all but five tubs of stuff for the auction. Paul took the first seven or so of many bags of donation stuff to Hope Charities. I will begin working on my clothes sometime this weekend and just finish up all the little odds and ends. I am really tired of sorting and deciding...will be glad it will be over soon.

I had my last pt this morning and like a good little girl, I got my T shirt. All I could do today was heat...I am in the midst of a fibro flare and I could barely move much less get out of bed this morning. Gosh, this gets old... Before we went to PT, we dropped off the rig for the new tires...$2600 later we have all new wheelies.

Not much else going on...storms are rolling in with a cool front which is making my head throb. I just need to take it slow and easy this weekend...
Living in the driveway does have it's disadvantages...the Harley riding grandma next door and her two buxom grandaughters(read fat girls who wear clothes that are 4 sizes too small...) are out in the nice weather. They don't talk to each other, they frickin' scream. Gets OLD....last night I almost called the cops. They act as if there is no one else around and nobody hears their obnoxious screeches. Grrrr.

Wednesday...

Sometimes I hate this damm blogger. Earlier today I wrote a nice informative post for everyone to read...then I kept getting scripting error pop ups. Nice. Blogger informs me that it now automatically saves what I am writing into drafts. They lie. I am not gonna repeat all the terrible names I called this blogger. Just makes me want my own web page again.

Anyways...I will give a quick synopsis of what I wrote earlier...

All tubs (like 25) made their way to the auction.
Paul sold more stuff to Minak (the gal who bought our house) including my bike and the tea cart.

(FYI...I am now getting a message every 60 seconds that my writing is being saved by blogger....pffft! I say!!)

I aggravated my fibro lifting boxes and packing yesterday and I am paying the price today.

It is freakin' HOT in this rig without air...we can't run even ONE AC due to the electric situation. Makes me think I will convince the polish prince to move us to Riverside park BEFORE the 12th...or even Sanchris Lake (that might be too expensive....who says state parks are economical?)

Well, I am also brain dead so I can't remember anything else I wrote earlier. I wanted to go to the Stitch and B*tch at Barnes and Noble tonight but I am on the fence. I do have a ton of books and mags on knitting to get rid of...maybe someone there will be interested. I am not working on anything at all, but I do have my trusty D*mm sweater in the bag next to my chair. Too hard to do that while talking but I want to look at it a lot and feel guilty. Now ask me how that is working, LOL!

Hugs to all...

Monday Monday....

We had our first Cenois Rally at Yogi's Jellystone park in Goodwin. $35 per night on weekends. Outrageous. Last time for that place, at least for us poor Ziaja's.
We are retired, yanno and on limited camping funds. LOL. We had a nice visit with everyone, and met some new folks who may join our club.

Back to reality this morning. I listed about 55 items to be listed on Ebay by the service we found. The only thing they wouldn't take was Zack's old airgun. Toll Paulie they don't DO guns on Ebay, but of course, each and every statement, comment or bit of knowledge expressed by me is completely and totally ignored. I win...again. Just like on TV tonight I told him Dancing with the stars was the finale... tonight was the final three and of course he insisted there was one more week. I win again. I just don't know why he doesn't just keep his trap shut. He is wrong more often then right and I am always right!

We will be renting a trailer tomorrow and taking a ton of stuff down to the Auction house in Glenarm. Again, change of plans. I just cannot deal with another garage sale, and its the holiday weekend anyways so the turnout would be iffy. We need to have everything OUT by June 12th as that is when we start the summer tour. The rest of the stuff goes to our friend Hank's church thrift store in Lincoln. No matter where or who gets it...it will be gone! I need to find a cleaning service to clean the house before we leave. I am NOT wiping out cabinets and washing down the kitchen plus the fridge needs cleaning out. Ick. Not something I either relish OR can do well...bending and reaching up are out of the question.

22 days and counting to lift off. It seems so long ago that the Polish Prince and I decided to sell and go fulltime. It must have been 10 years now that we have dreamt of going on the road to see the country. We will continue to write our travel plans in pencil and can be erased and changed daily.

The island, the wing chair and the futon work beautifully in the rig. The only original furniture are the front seats and the bed. We do need to find a source for the stupid pantry slid out racks...the plastic anchors in the back keep breaking. Very irritating. The vibration going down the highway must crack the cheapie things. Can't find metal anywhere. The engineers at Damon must be idiots. Don't they think of these things in their designs? Grrrr.

Well, I will post some more after our experience at the auction. Hope this works out.

After months of having sign in problems with the blog, even losing the damm thing once, I have determined just what is happening at google. Its not google...it ME. Was there any doubt? Hardly ANY I'm sure. I had changed over from the old blog format and misspelled my sign in name. I have been typing rocketmom1985 for so many years...but for the change over I signed in as rocketOM1985. RockeTOM. My goodness, I am truly brain damaged at times. Well, at least I know how to fix it...just sign in as rocketom. It won't let me change it to my regular email addy as I already exist...Grrrr.

Paul is in Athens at a funeral this morning. One of his buddies from FedEX passed away unexpectedly at the age of 53. He did have Chron's disease, but the cause of death has yet to be determined. He had transferred from SPI to California and ended up in Maui as a courier. Paul says at least he died in paradise. I am not so sure of that.

I am getting ready to go thru all my clothes. I really seem to have packed what I most needed when we left in November. Although I plan to stay far far away from anyplace cold, I guess I do need some clothes to layer if the weather should turn cold unexpectedly. I do have a "little black" outfit that I will keep in the MH. You never know when I may need it in the future. Let's hope not for a long long time.

I have so many t shirts that are iffy. Not good enough to wear out in public but certainly too good to toss. I guess I will just put them in the charity box. Paulie and I decided to have one more garage sale(oh crap, why did I consent to this...I will regret it I just know this as sure as I am sittin' here...) The packing up of stuff to take to auction will be very little. A set of China, the tea cart, some crystal and wine/drink glasses. And the recliner from the MH. Maybe the table set and the large cedar chest we had put in for extra seating for grandpa and for storage from the MH also. I ordered an island with a breakfast bar that folds up and down. It has several drawers, a knife rack and cabinet storage. Hope this setup works. I had to almost BEG the polish prince to spend the $299. It should be delivered today by FedEx ground. We are leaving for our first Cenois MH club this weekend at a campground somewhere near Peoria I think. It will be good to get away for awhile and see what everyone is up to. This may be our only outing with them due to our schedule being written in jello. I still want to keep up with the Cenois, but it may be hard to mesh schedules, but we will surely try. We have made some wonderful friends over the years and don't want to lose them.

Well, that's about it for updates. Back to the mess in the house...we already have 30 tubs of stuff I can't live without. The Prince is NOT happy. Pfffft.

Monday, May 14, 2007

OK, so I have not been good at updating the blog. I have been going thru some serious emotional ups and downs here. Paul wants to get rid of all MY stuff...how can he be so callous? OK, so I have two tubs of Halloween stuff...one tub of Easter decorations and 7 Christmas tubs of stuff. I got rid of at least 10 tubs of holiday stuff already! I have lots of pictues, which I SWEAR that I will go thru when we get back to Weslaco in October. I need TIME to decide what to save and what to get rid of...yanno its hard...Zack appears in 60 gazillions of them and all of them are good! I have three tubs of crafts, and I should remind Paulie...down from an entire ROOM of stuff. It kills me to give this stuff away. Everything I had was a project that I keep in my head and that just needed time to finish. Argh. What is the good of having a whole freaking garage in Weslaco if I can't fill it up with my stuff? I would rather set out Catherine's Hummels than look at a tacky lioness statue from Big lots....I am NOT making this up....I have some beautiful dishes and china pieces...I consented to get rid of all the crystal. Jeez, what is a gal to do! Paul says there must be 59 tubs to be moved. He needs to learn how to count for cripesakes. I have a lot of personal stuff...you should have seen his face when he saw that I had put my collection of angels on top of the lambrikin shade in the bedroom. WhataPutz. Oh well. There is a completely great shelf on top of that lambrikin and it was perfect for my angels. Heck, I need all the heavenly help I can get. Plus there will be a spot for St. Joseph up there when we dig him up after the closing.

We just got finished with the auction guy. Not encouraging...says that what we have just won't sell except maybe the teacart, my Lenox china and the chair we removed from the MH. Crap. Now what? We can haul it ourselves to the other auction place in Glenarm and see what they will take. The rest of the stuff we'll just haul to the Goodwill. I haven't even gone thru my clothes yet. I am very discouraged. Of course, my junk is NOBODY'S treasure.

The kitchen counters, stove and sink have been installed. Looks great. I am jealous. My kitchen in Weslaco needs countertops...next year. ...maybe next year....

Well, Paulie and I have another couple of days work here now that we know what we have is crap that nobody wants. I have a bunch of stuff for the ebay guy...but I have to list it all individually or in "lots" ....this will take me the rest of the day at least.

Well, we have pulled in the slides and are headed over to the lake to dump the holding tanks. No use tempting fate...the black tank says full...just what we need, an overflow of nasty black waste
like poopoos overflowing. That would be the freaking end.

I'll try to post more updates in a more timely manner...don't think of this as a promise...I seen to be breaking them right and left.

OH...Zack made the Dean's list again...he surely is is mother's son...bullsh*ting his way thru college. Well, he's gotta have some brains...just wish he'd get a grip on his sloppiness issues. I pity the poor girl he marries...that reflects on the mother yanno?

Thursday, May 03, 2007

I offer my humblest apologies...since we have arrived back at the sticks and bricks house, I haven't posted anything to the blog. Not that I don't have a lot to talk about, but I just had more pressing issues to deal with.

A quick update. As soon as we got home, Paulie decided to have a garage sale. We have a new neighbor next door, a young man who is getting married soon in his home country of Greece. We are trying to fanagle an invite to that wedding!
He purchased the big screen tv and also Gene's bedroom set. We worked like dogs (well, Paulie did...) to get ready. It sucked. Nobody wanted to pay more than a dime for stuff. I am NOT selling my set of china for a frickin' DIME! We decided to just call an auctioneer to sell what is left which is a lot of stuff. We did have a serious buyer two days after the sign went up, however she backed out due to financing issues. A couple of days later, we had a contract on the house. A couple who works for the state have her mom living with them so this is a perfect fit. We held out for full asking price. No problem. So, we have been very busy. We did have painters in, ordered new counter tops, bought the new sink and hardware, paint for the cabinets and a new stove. We had no idea we would sell it without these improvements so we had already committed to those expenses. We were able to take the paint back and the hardware so we did save some $.

I have been under the weather since we have had several cold fronts accompanied by rain hit. I am doing better today however. We are still planning to go to Michigan June 18 and will return on July 18th or thereabouts. Zack is having some minor surgery on July 20 so we will be able to care for him when he gets home. He and Gregg are moving into their new apartment this weekend...I should tell you all that Gregg's dad and Zack's dad will be doing the actual moving. Figures, Zack has to work...don't know what Greg's excuse was...thinking it was RA duties getting all the kids outta the dorm.

The other thing we did was cancel our home phone which means I lost my dsl for internet. We decided to buy a Cingular aircard which I am now using. It is quite different than dsl and altho they call it broadband, basically the card is a cell phone that slips into the laptop and then connects like the phone does. It will take me a while to get used to this...

well, I will post more later. I am off to take a shower. Its raining again so I don't know what the slavemaster has planned for today.

Tuesday continued….

We arrived at Auntie Avril’s around one p.m. Our GPS was having spasms of some sort and kept wanting us to get off on exit 127 and I know that it should be 129. We followed the voice on the GPS and made a nice big circle around Lebanon. Jeesh. We were right back on I44 and just a bit frustrated. We stayed on I44 and then exited at 129…there was Wal Mart and the Ice cream store like we remembered. Grrrrr.

She must have been waiting since 7 am. We had a nice visit while she cooked the pork loin Peggy had dropped off. We laughed and talked all afternoon. Finally, Peggy got there about 5 and we headed for the farm. Peggy and David have named it the “Economical Farmette” which is a standing joke…Peg had to go back to work to keep it running as she so aptly states…”it costs money to feed these ‘pets’. “They have goats and chickens and a few guinea hens to keep the tick population down. It is a lovely place and her house is very beautiful. She has a love of antiques and has many fine pieces around her home. I had never met David and it was fun to finally meet him. He took Paul and me to see brand newborn baby goats. They are so cute. Goats are very curious and were climbing all over the ATV’s and jumping in the feeding troughs. The twin babies were still “wet” meaning their Mama was still trying to get them cleaned up and standing in order to nurse. I guess that’s what she was doing. (She sure looked fine after popping out two babies…I remember what I looked like after Zack and I certainly didn’t look that good.) It was raining and freezing out so Paulie and I headed back to the house. David and Peg have several Great Pyrenees dogs as goat herders and protectors and one had developed a hot spot which required the vet to shave off her back end of hair. While they tended to her, Auntie, Paul and I sipped on some local wine while dinner was in the oven.

We hod wonderful pork loin roast marinaded in orange juice of all things; rosemary flavored sweet and white potatoes; steamed broccoli, and Auntie made wonderful brownies and lemon bars for dessert. It was delicious.

After dinner we just talked about folks and things and Paul and David talked trucks. We did get to see Lisa Gibbons get kicked off Dancing with the Stars…should have been Clyde the Glide…he’s just to damm tall and awkward to be any kind of dancer. Plus his partner is a real peanut….how stupid is this?

We said our goodbyes around ten, as Peggy has to get up around 5 a.m. to get ready to teach school. David gets up and works the “farmette”. It was quite dark when we drove home, but we made it. Paul and I headed to bed in the rig and hit the sack without even turning on the news or anything.

Wednesday….

We were up around nine and as Paul readied the rig for our last leg home, Auntie made us breakfast of bacon and eggs. After we ate we talked for a while and finally around 11 we pulled out. It is so hard to say goodbye to family that you love dearly. I miss her already! It was great to see all the Texas and Missouri relatives that we rarely have a chance to visit. There is something somehow wrong with not seeing a cousin or part of your family for 30 years. Yes, we do keep in touch with Christmas cards and such, but really getting to know family…well, life just gets in the way unless they are close at hand. Sad…but we like many folk have family all over the place and it’s just hard to make a trip when other things crop up. That’s why I am looking forward to RVing almost full time. I can look up old friends, relatives and new friends during our travels.

Well, after we left Lebanon, we headed northeast thru St. Louis and arrived in Edwardsville around 3. Zack has class til 4:15 and he will probably go home and change then drive to meet us. We parked in the Wal Mart lot near the campus. We noted no overnight parking signs, so I guess we will head home after our visit with junior.

We went to Lackawana something or other for dinner. Paul and I split prime rib and Jr. had a steak. It was a delicious dinner and we enjoyed visiting with Zack. I just don’t know how much I miss him until he’s sitting across the table from me! In another year or so he will be off on his own, teaching someplace. Well, our home on wheels will visit him often.

We had to co-sign some lease papers for this apartment for Zack and his friend/roommate Greg Eddings. Neither make over $1500 a month so the management company requires both kids to get parents to co-sign. I hope I don’t regret this…I am sure he will honor his promise and continue to work next year. Heck, if he works Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the country western bar, he will have plenty to make his rent…it is only $325 and then about $50 for electric and internet. The boys have already paid the deposits and have even purchased the washer and dryer the previous tenant’s parents had bought for the kids in the apartment. This way they can save a bit on laundry costs…$1.50 per load plus at least .75 cents for a dryer. Zack already took the pizza oven we had at home. He will be taking Grandpa’s leather loveseat and recliner, and his favorite recliner that Paulie had been using from his old room. It is tattered and unbelievably hideous but they both just love the damm thing. I will give him pots and pans left over from Grandpa’s place plus some extra dishes and silverware I have. We are set in the rig and also in the Valley.

We left Edwardsville around 8:30 and arrived at the Ziaja homestead around ten. The wind was terrible and Paulie had stiffened up in his shoulders trying to keep the rig on the road. We pulled into the drive and just parked the rig. We plugged into the garage and went to bed. We are home.

Tuesday....lazin' in Cathage...

It's 9:45 and we are still camped at Ballard's campround. We slept late...9 am.
We prolly won't get to Aunt Avrils til noon. She'll be pacing around all worried like if I don't call her and let her know we've been pokies. Oh well...Peg is gonna make us dinner at the farm and she gets off work I would guess around 2 or three. We have plenty of time in my mind!

We both were asleep before Letterman's show even started! I guess we were tired. Well, I will make this one short...we have to store stuff so we can get the
Aslyum movin' on down the road.

Later...

New posts since we left San Antonio...

Friday...the road to Borger in the Texas Panhandle...

We left the Traveler’s World Campground around nine. We have a long day of driving the length of Texas today. We are hoping to get about 200 miles from Borger before we stop. Then the ride Saturday will be an easy one.
We programmed the GPS and off we went. We followed the directions until we found ourselves heading towards Corpus Christi….wrong way in my mind. We thought, heck the GPS knows what it’s doing…who are we to question the great satellite in the sky? Well, finally we decided to pull over and get out the map. We were SOUTH of San Antonio, and we obviously wanted to go north…well, duh…

I whip out the map of Texas…now this sucker is bigger than the windshield. I can hardly handle the damm thing so I start folding it and folding it and folding it to get to the center where we are. Forget the atlas…there’s pages of different parts of Texas and the sequence of the pages is asinine. I start to map out a route that will take us northwest. No main highway from San Antonio to Amarillo the closest city to Borger. Hmmmm. So we hit the big I10 and head west. We will be able to catch a “red road” (which is usually a four lane type road but they go thru small towns) which will take us to San Angelo and then we can hit another going up to Amarillo finally catching I40 to go back east. Thinking that would add hours and miles to the trip, I plot out a new course that will take us thru Abilene. It appears to be a staight route but all state roads which means small towns. *Sigh*. If we were herding stupid cows it would be an easier way to to across the countryside. I keep thinking of Abilene as a cow town and am thinking we will stop and take a look at any neat historical stuff we can find. (noted later...Yeah, right...the road we were on went on the outter edge and all we saw were gas stations and cows.) After getting off I10 we now head due north. We are in Texas Hill country. I have heard a lot about how beautiful it is with the bluebonnets blooming. It really was a nice drive, not as scenic as I thought but better than what I know is ahead as we go towards the panhandle. The bluebonnets were lovely and they went on forever. We drove right thru Fredericksburg which is a well known German town with really cool shops and cafes. Paul didn’t want to stop. Putz. There are BAKERIES there you fool! Real baked goods…not supermarket crap like they pass off as bakery for heaven’s sake! The GPS was not helpful…we didn’t know where it was gonna take us so we stayed with the map. So far I am NOT impressed with Garmin.

We drive thru the next 400 or so miles and all we see are a few cows, some stumpy tress and cactus. Then we didn’t even see that. No wonder General Santa Anna traded his life for this part of the Texas Republic…its pretty worthless looking to me too. (Now you know I am kidding right?)

We are noticing gas/diesel prices are jumping higher as we go farther north. We were looking at $3.09 for diesel. We paid $2.40 in Weslaco. Crap.
About 6, we pulled into a town called Childress. There is a brand new Super Wal Mart with a Murphy gas station. Diesel is $2.66 so with our discount it would be $2.63. Paulie pulls in and fills up. There are several trucks and a motorhome in the far side of the parking lot. I note a sign that states Truck and RV overnight parking HERE. Wow. Camp Wally World inviting us to spend the night. What a great sales tool for Wal Mart. They know RVer’s spend money so they invite them to spend the night.

Paul went into the store and picked up some tacitos for supper. We were both tired. We watched a bit of TV and were dismayed to hear that we were heading into 4 to 6 inches of freakin’ snow. Great. We went to bed hoping we didn’t wake up to a winter wonderland.

Saturday April 7

We were up early but decided to sleep a bit more. The anticipated snow had not arrived. We got up around 8 and got dressed and got back on the road. I had a taste for some eggs so we stopped in a little town café off route 287 and had some breakfast. I had called Aunt Karen earlier and told her where we were and it was about 100 miles from Borger. We arrived following her directions. By the way…the GPS broad was turned off…her voice is grating…but then I knew it would be.

We had a nice visit with Aunt Karen and then my cousin Kim and her son Cade stopped by. We had another nice visit, then Cade got a phone call that some friends wanted him to join them to watch a pay for view event of some type, so he and his mom left. We had a sandwich with Aunt Karen and then my cousin Sue, her husband Bobby, and their daughter Liz and her husband Darren arrived. We talked and laughed and visited for quite a while. We finally headed back to the Asylum to hit the sack. It was cold, and it had flurried a bit but no accumulation of snow thank goodness... We slept like rocks, nice and cozy in our rig with the heated mattress pad on full blast. Paul had dropped a line to Aunt Karen’s house so we had a bit of electric thereby avoiding running the generator all night. Aunt Karen made us biscuits and sausage for breakfast on Sunday. She had prepared ham, brisket and potato salad, along with a pecan pie to take to the Easter dinner. It would be at Kim’s brand new house, which we have heard was very beautiful. Kim and her husband Danny had only been moved in for three weeks. About noon, we all got gussied up and headed over to Kim’s. House was right out of Architectural Digest or House Beautiful. It was lovely and open, spacious and had very high ceilings. It had granite and marble, glass and crystal and some hardwood floors that were really beautiful. All the cabinetry was custom built and it had some really neat features. For example, they have two Chihuahuas and their own “room” has a heated floor. Then they have automated doggie doors where the dog stands in front of the door and the door automatically opens…the dog has an opener device in it’s collar. Too cool. They also had a lovely outdoor kitchen and a huge outdoor fireplace on the spacious patio. I told Danny when I decide to build my dream home; I would call him to design it. He and Kim picked out everything down to the light switch covers. Incredible.

Danny’s parents arrived from Amarillo and right at one we sat down to a delicious Easter dinner. Ham and brisket, mashed potatoes and potato salad, mac and cheese, rolls, baked beans and veggies. It was wonderful. We were so happy to be there to help share the holiday.

After dinner, we just sat around and talked, I showed a few pictures from the computer to Sue and Aunt Karen. I had put most of them on a disk, but there were still plenty for them to see.

After dessert (I passed…I was sooooooo good….) everyone began to pack up. We went back to Aunt Karen’s house, got jackets (it was freezing out) and then went out to the “ranch”. Uncle Wilbur had purchased 25 acres many years ago and had built a horse facility and roping corral there. Before he died, he and Aunt Karen had hosted roping competitions there. Bobby and Sue have taken it over and made a lot of improvements. They have done a lot of work and it shows. Bobby competes in Team Roping, and has won a national championship. They mainly use it for practice and there are several teams that practice there. I asked how they practiced….they rent Mexican bulls…I am NOT making this up…$30 a month per cow! After freezing our asses off, we headed over to Sue and Bobby’s place to visit for a while. Sue has just finished redecorating and the house is really pretty. They have a roping and cowboy theme which is really cute. We looked at pictures of both her girls and their husbands. Both girls are tall, dark haired and are beautiful. They have great jobs and lead exciting lives. Liz is a dental tech and her husband Darren is a lawyer. Julie and her husband Tommy both work for CareMark and travel a lot. They have just transferred to San Antonio and are having a house built. Tommy is already there and Julie was by herself, kinda bummed out being alone on the holiday, in Florida where their current house is for sale.

We left Sue’s around nine as Bobby has to start work at 5 a.m. (that’s just beastly) and we were all pretty tired. Talking nonstop can do that to a person I guess. Paul said he never know I could talk that much….hahahahaha….where has he been for the last twenty three years?

Monday, April 09, 2007

We were up and about at 7:30. We readied the rig for our trip leg to Aunt Avril’s house in Lebanon, MO. It will most likely be a 10 or 11 hour drive so we will see how it goes and what the weather has in store before we decide to drive it strait thru or not. Aunt Karen made us bacon sandwiches for breakfast and we talked for a while. I wish she was coming along with us, but it was too short a notice and there were some things she had planned or were in the works. Not many folks can just pickup and hit the road like we can. We said our goodbyes and were on the road by 9. The GPS broad is still giving bum directions so it’s back to the maps….gee that’s a toughie…take I40 to I44. It’s a no brainer….

Well, I have only a few minutes left on my battery so I will pick up later.

Hugs

Dee

Later Monday….evening in Carthage, MO

We decided to pull into a small RV park for the night. We need to dump the tanks and this way we can sleep in and shower before we get to Auntie Avril’s house. I called to let her know. We are like an hour and a half away, but I am not feeling too good, so it’s good that we can stop and have hook-ups.
We have some lunch meat we can make sandwiches with and just veg out.
We will have breakfast and then be off to Lebanon. I have free wifi for today…can you believe a $17 a night campground with FREE wifi? The KOA is $35 and you have to pay. There are no brats running around and the sites although small are adequate for an over night stop. Hmmmm.

Will catch up more with our visit to Aunt Avril’s and visit with Peggy and David out at the farm. We missed them on our Thanksgiving visit. Peg says she has three new baby goats. Can’t wait to see her menagerie.

I'll post more when I get wifi access again...maybe when we see Zack in Edwardsville later this week...

Paulie and me at the Japanese Gardens...

Thursday...an all day tour...

Right now I am exhausted....was up at 6:30 a.m. (OMG why do people get up with the birds....?). We got dressed and went to a little place across the street for breakfast. I ordered two pancakes. I just don't know why I continue to do stupid things like this...I can't eat two...I can barely eat one for heaven's sake. Paul ordered a breakfast taco of egg and sausage. With a coffee and his coke, the bill was $5. And I only ate one pancake.

The tour bus and our guide, Philip arrived right on time at 8:35 a.m. We headed downtown for our day long tour...we would visit the Japanese gardens, see a movie about the Alamo at the Imax Theater, take a boat ride on the River along Riverwalk, visit the Alamo, have lunch, and then visit The Mission of San Jose, and the Mission Conception, and then finally spend some time at Market Square.

I promise I will write more later, but I have to sit in my recliner for a while and recover. I haven't walked this far in quite a while...Paul is already asleep on the couch. I will download all the pictures we took but won't post them here except for a few...the rest will be uploaded to Yahoo photos...there are just too many for the blog.

more when I recover a bit....

dee

I was finally able to get on and upload our pictures from the Riverwalk from last night....

Here is one of the tour boats....

One of the many many restaurants to choose from...I think this was Joe's Crab Shack

A view from up on street level....

A good shot of the back of Paulies head...and the guys who charged us six bucks to sing happy birthday to us and then forgot the words....

I don't know why I think I look good with my hand on my chin...all it does is move my turkey neck to one side and make me look stupid...

A great shot of Paul...one of the bestest yet...grrr. The new camera just takes too long to take a photo with the flash and of course being the expert I am at taking photos, I never hold the button down long enough...

This one I couldn't resist...wish I had the camera on when the bird actually pooped on the table of women seated behind us. I would've barfed...all they did was scream...ick ick ick.
